Lewis gets reaped on his first year because he's basically the unluckiest kid alive. A lot of people feel bad for him, but of course there's nobody to volunteer for him. He nearly faints when his name is called, but manages to make it through the ceremony. His only living relative--his uncle--doesn't visit him before he's taken to the trains.
